About the Role
The Metropolitan South Region is seeking qualified social workers passionate about supporting students, families and school communities. As a key member of a multidisciplinary wellbeing team, you will work directly with children to build their social and emotional skills and provide responsive support for urgent needs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored therapeutic interventions for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression, personal relationships, stress, trauma and crisis).
- Ensure safety plans are implemented for students who are self‑harming or at risk of suicide.
- Apply mental health continuum knowledge to identify when additional support outside the school is required.
- Provide warm referrals to external agencies for students needing further mental health support.
- Support students following critical incidents or emergencies, monitoring and sustaining wellbeing.
- Collaborate with other wellbeing and school staff to implement strategies developed for students in the classroom and wider community.
- Undertake individual and group counselling and therapeutic interventions with students, parents and families.
