Make an impact at Serco

As a Social Worker within the Psychological Health Services (PHS) team at Acacia Prison, you will provide psychological assessment and intervention to inmates for a broad range of presenting issues. There is a specific focus on suicide and self- harm risk assessment and crisis intervention. Psychological Health Services also provide other goal-directed, psychological interventions appropriate for a forensic population. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Wooroloo, WA.

As a Social Worker in the Psychological Health Services team, you'll make a positive impact by :

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary care team to provide a high level of care for inmates who are experiencing psychological distress and / or functional impairment. Completing comprehensive risk assessments and using these to develop appropriate treatment and management plans for people at risk of self-harm. Providing individual counselling and / or group therapy to inmates with current psychological needs. Preparing accurate and defensible documentation including progress notes, formulations and treatment plans.

To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Have

Bachelor's degree in social work; AND eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Solid understanding of evidence-based practices in the assessment and intervention of different psychological and behavioural presentations Demonstrated experience in providing individual counselling, preferably within a correctional, welfare, or similar institutional environment. Proven ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver psychological services and programs. Exceptional report writing abilities, producing accurate and defensible documentation.
