To continue to deliver for our community, we are seeking a new officer with experience in compliance and local laws. This exciting position is a multi-disciplined role covering planning compliance, local laws and litter enforcement, with regular assistance provided to Council's Community Safety Officers in animal management matters.
This role will provide you the opportunity to :
Provide guidance, advice and assistance to residents in relation to compliance matters.Undertaking proactive and reactive planning compliance and local law investigations.Issuing notices and infringements were deemed appropriate.Preparing materials for briefs of evidence and presenting evidence in court.Provide assistance to Community Safety Staff with respect to dog attack investigations.Assist other Community Safety Staff in animal management matters during leave periods and as part of Council's after-hours service.Participate as a team member of the after-hours service that includes an on-call availability and overtime service.Previous experience in enforcement, including a demonstrated ability in auditing properties.Make judgements and decisions on operational matters in the field, but within a framework where guidance may be sought from Coordinator Compliance and Prosecutions.Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to gain cooperation and resolve problems and influence positive outcomes for residents and Council.Operate with mínimal supervision and use judgement appropriate with the level of experience and qualifications outlined in this position description.Proven ability to effectively plan, organise and manage own time to achieve targets within set timeframes.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and flexible team environment and support the achievement of team goals.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Capacity to write reports and use spreadsheets, databases, records management systems, Council systems and other software.Desirable
