About the Team
The SIRS PPI branch supports the Commission’s purpose through a strong focus on improved sector engagement and reporting relating to the SIRS by :
- strengthening the engagement approach to provide improved advice and education about SIRS reporting
- targeted insights reporting to support the sector to prevent and manage serious incidents
- redesigning the SIRS form to provide more clarity and improve the quality of reporting
- leveraging the Commission’s maturing analytics capability to develop further insights into sector-level, segmented and provider-level trends and systemic issues.
The SIRS is an initiative to help prevent and reduce the risk and occurrence of incidents of abuse and neglect of older Australians receiving Commonwealth‑subsidised aged care and services.
About the Role
The APS 6 Senior Program Officers (multiple) within the SIRS PPI branch works in close partnership with the Directors and Assistant Directors to support the Assistant Commissioner, SIRS PPI, to deliver the selected areas of the program.
The Senior Program Officers will be contributing to the delivery the SIRS PPI program through the Analytics and Insights, Engagement and Sector Capability, and SIRS PPI Form Redesign teams, to enable and implement strengthened engagement with the SIRS reporting provider sector, targeted insights reporting, form redesign and analytics capability.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain engagement with internal and external stakeholders.Provide support to the working group and sub‑working groups, including progressing action items related to program aims and objectives.Assist with the management of critical and sensitive issues to deliver consistent strategic and quality messaging related to project aims and objectives, and in line with current policies.Identify and respond appropriately to program risks, including escalation of risks to Assistant Director and Director as required.Ensure effective and accurate data capture to enable risk modelling and analysis of trends.Coordinating and managing data and analytics project activities, consulting stakeholders and internal teams to define requirements and deliver outcomes.Present data in clear, consistent, and accessible formats, including dashboards, reports, briefing papers, and visualisations tailored to audience needs.Contribute to program evaluation, continuous improvement and innovation. Work constructively as a member of a team, including sharing of information to build the capacity of other staff to undertake their roles.Adhere to the APS Values and Code of Conduct.Key Capabilities

Salary offered will be between $96,503 – $106,869 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
Employment Details
Roles are offered on an Ongoing / Non‑Ongoing basis, with Non‑Ongoing roles offered for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of one extension up to an additional 12 months.
