About the role
We are looking for an Assistant Director (Affirmative Measures) to lead a small analytical team at the Australian Energy Regulator (AER). This role is part of the senior leadership team and is open to Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander peoples under affirmative action.
Duties
- Lead a small team conducting analytical activities, providing direction, supervision and development opportunities.
- Research, investigate and analyse relevant information and data to develop insights, advice and recommended positions for consideration by the AER Board.
- Design and facilitate stakeholder consultation processes and assess stakeholder submissions on energy sector matters.
- Prepare and oversee written material including issues papers, regulatory determinations, reports, correspondence, briefings, guidelines, speeches and submissions.
- Plan and manage projects in a geographically dispersed work environment and support team members.
- Represent the interests of AER; develop and manage stakeholder relationships with industry bodies, governments, consumer groups and internal stakeholders.
- Manage the collection, use and storage of information associated with AER’s regulatory responsibilities in the energy sector.
What you will bring
Demonstrated experience leading a team in a fast‑paced, geographically dispersed, people‑centred organisation.Experience researching, investigating and analysing information and data to develop and present insights, advice and recommended positions.Well‑developed written communication skills and ability to manage and prepare reports, meetings and correspondence.Interpersonal skills, including negotiating with and influencing internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes.Project management skills, including determining priorities, meeting deadlines and working with high levels of autonomy.Understanding or ability to quickly acquire an understanding of Australian energy markets and the purpose and objectives of the AER.Tertiary qualifications in economics, corporate finance, law, public policy, engineering or related fields.How to apply

Salary
$123,702 to $136,900 per annum (plus 15.4% superannuation)
