We are looking for support workers to join our team in a full-time position to help us respond positively to the changing needs support needs of people with disabilities.
- About the role
This opportunity entails :
- Providing different clients with customised personal care and support
- Supporting clients to develop the skills to live as autonomously as possible
- Assisting clients in daily activities, personal hygiene and dressing tasks
- Assisting clients with daily household tasks such as cooking, cleaning and maintaining their homes
- Undertaking tasks outside the home such as shopping
- Assisting clients with social, recreational and community participation
- Maintaining a working understanding of the cultural, diversity and accessibility needs of clients and how this applies to the role
- Responsibility for helping clients access or build connections in the community or organising assisted travel
- Working closely with allied health or other service providers
- Managing behaviours of concern (may be required)
- Manual handling or Continence management (may be required)
- Documenting medication charts (may be required)
- This role necessitates flexible availability.
- This is a full time position working minimum 152 hours over 4 weeks and are a mixture of days / nights / overnights / weekends.
- You will be required to service clients with different disabilities across Metropolitan Perth.
- Requirements / Qualifications
- At least 2 years' experience in an individualised support or personal care role
- Availability to work irregular hours and capacity to a work a mixture of morning, afternoon or overnight
- Current Drivers Licence
- Registered vehicle with comprehensive car insurance
- Cert III in Disability, Aged Care and Individual support or relevant qualifications
- NDIS Worker Screening Check or be willing to obtain one
- Smartphone
- Manual Handling Certificate (desirable)
- Current First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- Working with Children (desirable)
- Medication trained (desirable)
- A genuine passion for enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities
- Compassion and initiative to problem solve creatively
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Time management and organisational skills
- Attention to detail and ability to observe and report
- Ability to learn, commitment to ongoing training and initiate improvements to service
- Interest in learning new skills
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
- Cultural awareness (experience with other cultures or ability to speak another language is an advantage)
