About the position

We are looking to appoint two fixed-term, research-only positions to contribute to our existing team in the Centre for Freshwater Ecosystems at La Trobe University, based in Albury-Wodonga. While broad training in freshwater sciences is desirable, we are specifically seeking applicants with a background in quantitative ecology, with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas : river and wetland ecology, quantitative ecological modelling, spatial data processing, and remote sensing. Specific skills in population modelling are sought for one of the two positions to contribute to an ARC Linkage project on fish metapopulation dynamics.

Other projects successful applicants may contribute to include wetland fish conservation, environmental flows research, habitat suitability modelling, and eco-hydrological modelling. Candidates who can demonstrate their ability to integrate different methods (e.g., empirical data collection with remote sensing and / or quantitative models) or ecological modelling experience, including the use of R for data wrangling, spatial data analysis, and data visualisation, will be highly competitive.
