- The role and what we are looking for
Reporting to the Data Governance Transformation Manager, you will support the uplift in the maturity of data governance, data architecture and data risk management capabilities at Capricorn, by supporting development and implementation of strategies, policies and best practices for effective and efficient management of the Capricorn's data assets across their lifecycle.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and IT professionals to ensure that Capricorn data meets regulatory and compliance obligations.
- Key Accountabilities
This role is pivotal in setting up and refining the core data governance and management standards, policies, guidelines, and processes. Your experience and expertise will contribute to enhancing data governance and maturity at Capricorn.
- Data Governance Strategy - Develop, uplift and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy that aligns with business goals and ensures the effective management of data assets.
- Policy Development - Enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Data Lifecycle Management - Oversee implementation of data lifecycle standards, including data acquisition, storage, processing, distribution, and archiving, ensuring adherence to data governance principles at each stage.
- Data Quality Management - Implement data quality standards and processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data.
- Security and Compliance - Collaborate with security teams to establish data security protocols, encryption standards, and access controls.
- Training and Awareness - Conduct training sessions and create awareness programs to educate employees about data governance best practices, policies, and procedures related to Azure Cloud services.
- Continuous Improvement - Monitor data governance processes, analyse performance metrics, and identify areas for improvement. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness continually.
- Knowledge & Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail. Experience using data visualisation tools is a advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficient knowledge of Data Governance methodologies.
- Knowledge of domestic and international data privacy regulations is an advantage.
- Experience
- Similar prior experience in data governance, data management, or a related role, preferably in a financial services context.
- Experience establishing data governance frameworks, standards, and policy to industry best practices.
- Experience establishing data governance metrics, key performance indicators and reporting.
- Experience in transformation and change management.
- Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a Business-related field.
- Certification in data governance or data protection is advantageous
