1. Provides high quality advice and support under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 2003, including identifying and managing complex issues requiring escalation for formal legal advice such as briefings, submissions and other correspondence.
2. Establish and maintain constructive and enduring relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a consistent, coordinated and effective approach to the provision of policy matters, legislation and law reform initiatives including consultation with relevant areas of DJAG, other departments, relevant statutory bodies and professional bodies in relation to policy matters, legislation and law reform initiatives.
3. Provide legal advice to departmental staff in relation to legislative matters including written and verbal legal advice, quality assuring material, and the development of local training initiatives.
4. Undertake research and provide policy advice on matters within the Registrar
5. Engage with Senior Managers to evaluate the need for and effectiveness of policies to guide the work of the Registry, including drafting new policies.
