About us
The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.
The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.
The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department's relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap and building our cultural capability.
Purpose of the role
The Business Performance and Support Branch delivers fiscal management, governance, and business support, along with technical services and advanced capability development to drive business performance across the RFSQ. The branch is responsible for strategic initiatives designed to improve and implement service-wide financial and performance management activities, systems and reporting processes that enhance business operations and provide efficient and effective support services to staff and volunteers.
Reporting to the Director, you will be a key member of the team and point of contact responsible for providing governance advice across RFSQ. This will see you being responsible for establishing and maintaining governance pathways within RFSQ in line with the QFD Governance Framework, working with all levels of stakeholders to streamline decision making and ensure we deliver on strategic outcomes. In addition you will provide secretariat support to select RFSQ committees and sub-committees and work closely with business units to provide advice and guidance on governance practices to ensure systems and processes meet best practice and departmental governance requirements.
