Assistant Director Payroll

Reporting to the Director People Services, the Assistant Director is responsible for the oversight and management of the day-to-day operations payroll, providing advice and support to employees on salary and conditions of employment.

• Duties
• Manage the day-to-date operations of the payroll team and oversee the delivery of payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all payroll functions, and providing high level advice to staff, teams, internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage the administration and use of EMPOWER, Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS).
• Manage the Payroll ServiceDesk and distribute work items to payroll team members. Provide leadership, mentoring, direction, guidance, performance management and on-the-job training, as required, and ensure team members produce accurate, high quality work output.
• Manage and complete payroll-related compliance and improvement activities to improve the delivery, accuracy and efficiency of payroll service delivery.
• Oversee administration of complex case payroll, including long-term leave, suspension and termination of employment, superannuation and workers compensation etc.
• Manage the payroll-related aspects of the Salary Packaging Program.
• Ensure PAYG taxation and superannuation contributions are calculated, paid and remitted within required timeframes. Ensure that fortnightly salary reconciliations and related reimbursement activities are completed.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and agencies on routine to more complex payroll and associated matters including financial and other reporting, payroll reconciliations, leave provisions and general compliance activities.
• Ensure the generation and distribution of payroll reports as part of the fortnightly payroll process.
• Oversee enterprise agreement and award changes.
