Assistant Director – Governance, Planning & Performance

Your new company This Federal Government agency plays a key role in delivering strategic programs and initiatives that support national priorities. With a strong focus on governance, performance, and accountability, the agency is seeking an experienced Assistant Director to join a high-performing team within its corporate services function.

Your new role As Assistant Director within the Planning and Performance section, you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering key corporate accountability documents, including the Corporate Plan, Annual Report, and Performance Statements. You will lead a small, high-performing team and manage a portfolio of strategic projects aimed at enhancing corporate governance, performance reporting, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include : Leading the development and delivery of key planning and performance documents. Providing strategic advice and high-quality briefs to senior executives and governance committees. Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including oversight of audit and compliance activities. Driving innovation in performance measurement and reporting frameworks. Supporting the agency's response to ANAO audits and contributing to a culture of integrity and accountability. Leading and mentoring staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture. What you'll need to succeed As well as the below, this role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a minimum Baseline Australian Government security clearance. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate :

Strong leadership and project management skills, with experience in corporate planning, governance, or performance reporting. Excellent written communication skills, particularly in preparing executive briefs and strategic documents. A sound understanding of the PGPA Act and its application in a Commonwealth context. Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience working in a fast-paced, complex environment with competing priorities.
