- Our Strategic Sourcing Manager - Buying : Woolworths Food Company role leads buyers within a squad the Woolworths Food Company to manage and understand Cost of Goods and ensure supply security to support the commercial targets of the category. grow sales and margin in Value & Exclusives Frozen, Health and Macro brand products.
This team member will engage consistently with our WFC team to support supplier landscape reviews, performance and ongoing maintenance to continue growth for WFC.
As a Strategic Sourcing Manager you will be a capability expert and lead a team of Buyers to deliver Sourcing Strategies supporting the Category strategy.
- Key responsibilities
- Design and lead the sourcing strategy for Own Brand Categories / Agile delivery - you will effectively lead a group of categories agenda across the streams of work by bringing together the key stakeholders and driving the sourcing plan through strategic thinking and in depth knowledge of the supply landscape. You will lead the sourcing activity, stakeholder and change management activities to support the annual operating plan.
- Horizontal leadership and stakeholder engagement - there is a critical role to play in the management of key stakeholders across the Australian Foodgroup, through delivering clear, independent and strategic insights and recommendations.
- Governance and compliance through capability to develop the commercial elements of supply contracts including specification,
- Price review mechanism, delivery & tenure in consultation with the legal team.
- Risk Mitigation - monitoring existing business and supply base and proactively mitigate risks through dual supply and fully integrated supply strategies to support sales growth and sales during crises.
- Work collaboratively across key stakeholder groups (WFC,Commercial & wider ecosystem) to deliver to the Own Brand sourcing strategy and broader strategic initiatives.

- Influencing skills and the ability to engage and communicate with all stakeholders with differing interests and priorities. Being able to adapt style and influencing skills to work effectively and collaboratively
- Experience in identifying trends and key financial risks, in order to assess the risks and opportunities for Woolworths and assist in the development of COGS initiatives
- 6+ years professional experience - with experience in retail or FMCG fast-paced working environment
- Previous demonstrated leadership skills and capabilities - leading, coaching, developing teams
- Strategic & Commercial Thinking
- You will be capable of developing and articulating where the Group and each business is heading strategically, doing so in an engaging and credible manner, and how the Sourcing function can support through relevant strategies.
- You will also have the ability to empower, enable, coordinate and partner with business leaders to further develop their businesses by analyzing the strategic context and spotting opportunities for cross-collaboration and improvements.
