Lead a significant program of sporting activities Operational excellence combined with a strategic lens Support school communities in a changing environment The Position The Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) seeks to appoint a CEO with accountability for the organisation, management and review of all sporting activities for boys and girls in the secondary section of the AGSV.
Additionally, the CEO will work cooperatively with the APS for the combined AGSV / APS Girls competition.
With significant expansion of programs that AGSV operates, there is need to appoint an executive with extensive operational capabilities, coupled with a strong strategic mindset and the capacity to take a lateral approach to the future growth and direction of the organisation.
The CEO is responsible to the Chair of the AGSV Heads / Principals (AGSV Board).
The CEO will lead the scheduling, management, and review of all sporting fixtures for boys and girls across member schools.
Key responsibilities include preparing seasonal fixtures, coordinating central venues, managing results and ladders, and overseeing finals coordination.
The CEO will liaise with school leaders, sports coordinators, and external associations, chair key committees, and ensure timely communication and documentation.
The CEO will oversee staff and office operations, manage finances and policy reviews, and promote AGSV events through digital platforms.
The successful appointee will be an enthusiastic advocate for student participation in sport, with a strong understanding of its impact on wellbeing, resilience, and lifelong learning.
Ideally bringing a background in sport, the incoming CEO may have experience in a peak sporting body, games organising committee, event management, or major Music / Arts program.
They will demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills, confidently engaging with stakeholders and representing AGSV with professionalism.
Highly organised and detail-oriented, they will manage competing priorities with sound judgment and discretion.
The role requires strong administrative, interpersonal, and negotiating skills, along with the ability to lead independently and collaboratively.
Proficiency in public speaking and digital tools is essential.
The appointee will be committed to excellence, inclusion, and delivering high-quality experiences for students.
This is a pivotal leadership role for someone passionate about school sport and capable of delivering operational excellence across a broad and dynamic portfolio.
The Organisation Established in 1920, the Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV) is one of the leading school sporting associations in Victoria.
The AGSV takes pride in continuing to promote a strong sporting culture within its nine member schools, with almost 12,000 students competing in AGSV weekly sporting competitions and carnivals on offer each year.
The AGSV is an Incorporated Association which is governed by a Board consisting of the Heads / Principals of each member school.
Each school is also represented on the AGSV Sport Coordinators Committee which meets five times a year to oversee and review the sporting program.
The current member schools are Assumption College, Camberwell Grammar School, Ivanhoe Grammar School, Marcellin College, Mentone Grammar, Peninsula Grammar, Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School, Trinity Grammar School, and Yarra Valley Grammar.
