As a Cadet Journalist, you'll gain invaluable experience across Australia's diverse journalism brands, mastering core skills and modern techniques. You'll work in a supportive environment that fosters creativity, with structured rotations in metropolitan, national, and regional newsrooms. You’ll engage in special projects influencing public discourse and benefit from mentorship by seasoned professionals.
Commencing in November 2025 , this is a twelve-month program to develop your journalism experience. We have positions available across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Townsville, Cairns, Darwin, Hobart and Geelong.
To be considered for these positions, you will need to be available for our assessment centre on either the 16th or 17th of September 2025.
Who are you?
We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds and experiences . We are looking for Cadet Journalists who possess the following qualities and skills :
You are a born storyteller, skilled at crafting narratives through words, visuals, and multimedia.
You thrive in dynamic environments, staying ahead with emerging technologies and social media trends.
You are passionate about local stories, regional insights, national affairs, or specialised topics like technology or data journalism and are interested in developing genuine subject matter expertise.
You are available for our assessment centre on either the 16th or 17th of September 2025.
