The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high-quality, person-centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

About the role
We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive IAP Worker to provide an immediate crisis response to those experiencing homelessness and assessing those at risk of homelessness and provide referrals to address their complex needs. The Western Metro Homelessness Service is the Entry Point to services for the Brimbank Melton catchment. The primary service site is home to a variety of programs from homelessness, family violence and community streams.
The purpose of the role is to provide an immediate crisis response to those experiencing homelessness and assessing those at risk of homelessness and providing referrals to address their complex needs. Tasks will include providing high-level initial support to those experiencing homelessness and the related stresses by conducting thorough assessments, referrals and housing-related information and sourcing crisis accommodation for those in primary need.
You will successfully
Provide professional service deliveryCollaborate with internal and external key stake holdersEnsure suitable referrals are sent to internal and external agenciesUtilise strength based and trauma informed practices to undertake assessmentsClients are provided with HEF and other brokerage in accordance with DFFH guidelinesAll required HEF data and administrative tasks are completed promptlyUnderstand and meet funding requirements of internal and external agencies where applicableRecording of comprehensive case notes in a timely mannerData is collected and stored in line with privacy proceduresAbility to self-audit filesUnderstand and meet funding requirements of external agenciesThis is a permanent part-time position, 30.4 hours per week, reporting to the Access Point Coordinator, located at Sunshine, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 4.
You will have
Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation ArmyPrevious experience working within the homelessness sector or a keen interest to develop a career in the homelessness sectorPreferred Certificate III or Diploma of Community ServicesDemonstrates knowledge of homelessness including context, causes, issues, philosophies and legislationUnderstands and applies homelessness models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clientsAbility to understand and respond to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessnessA current VIC Drivers LicenceValid VIC Employee Working with Children CheckAbility to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in AustraliaWhat we offer
