The Agile Coach is also expected to have leadership skills to run the Program Increment (PI) planning events, training program staff and other Agile events for the Train. This role provides a major contribution to enhancing overall capacity to meet the information technology needs of the Warfighter.
- Responsibilities include
- Work closely with QA, Product Lines, DevSecOps, Strategic Partners, Delivery, Architecture and Engineering to directly manage and meet PI goals.
- Organise Agile Teams' workload for each Program Increment (PI) and define the agenda for and orchestrate the activities during each PI planning session.
- Consult with the Capability Managers and product owners to prioritise and shape the product backlog, using Agile practices for prioritisation around business value.
- Work to guide and coach others (scrum leaders) about the ART and LeanAgile practices.
- Assign, coordinate, and review work and activities of programming personnel. Oversee the ART and the SAFe framework to ensure its functioning and productivity.
- Develop and implement SAFe framework artefacts including backlogs, sprint boards and iteration planning
- Provide advice and support to the members of the WAPL team on Agile project practices.
- Participate and management in and facilitate relevant Agile ceremonies and rituals : Backlog Refinement, Daily Stand-up, Iteration / Release Planning, Showcases / Sprint Review, Retrospective as required.
- Report status updates and metrics to the Product Line Lead on the performance and efficiency of the ART
- Facilitate risk management of the ART
- Support commercial procurement activities including the collaborative development of Statement of Work(s) (SOWs) with Strategic Partner(s) / industry.
- Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Agile Processes and procedures (including SAFe framework, metrics, and in the implementation of Agile Release Train)
- Must be certified Scrum Master (Scrum Alliance), Professional Scrum master (Scrum.org), or Certified SAFe Scrum Master (Scaled Agile).
- Demonstrated ability to work under broad direction, with a considerable degree of autonomy.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups across multiple disciplines. 2 years as a Scrum Master, minimum of 3 years in leading teams, including the management of project dashboards.
- Demonstrated ability in creatively solve problems and try new approaches to achieve work outcomes, leveraging a strong analytical mindset. Complex Problem Solving - identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement.
- Desirable
- Certified SAFe Program Consultant or SAFe Release Train Engineer, experience as a Release Train Engineer.
- Past experience training teams and organizations in Agile. Experience in DevSecOps.
- Understanding of the Defence Strategic Framework, Defence Capability Life Cycle and the related governance requirements.
- Understanding of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Security Certification and Accreditation processes.
- Knowledge of JC2 systems, strategic networks, tactical networks, and ICT organisations within the ADF (fixed and deployed domains) in the Joint Force operational environments.
- Understanding of the Defence Security Principles Framework, Public Key Infrastructure, and cyber worthiness principles

- Have and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance and ability to upgrade to NV2 as required and requested by the Commonwealth
