We are currently seeking a full-time Primary Products Inspector for our business located at the Flemington Flower Markets in Homebush West.
Your duties will include :
- Conduct thorough inspection of fresh cut flower consignments upon arrival to identify product quality issues.
- Evaluate flowers for quality parameters such as freshness, colour, stem strength and absence of defects or diseases and classify batches based on quality tiers, identifying any flowers that do not meet specifications for rejection or reprocessing.
- Accurately record inspection results and prepare reports highlighting quality issues, inconsistencies and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers, growers and logistics teams to address quality discrepancies, provide feedback on rejected consignments and implement continuous improvement measures to enhance flower quality at the source.
- Assist in developing and updating inspection protocols and quality guidelines
- Monitor proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, ventilation) to ensure flowers remain fresh and undamaged prior to distribution and for market sales.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper storage conditions in the inspection area.

Proven experience in quality inspection or a related role within the horticulture or fresh flower industry.A strong knowledge of fresh cut flowers varieties and quality assessment techniques.Attention to detail and excellent observational skillsAbility to work under pressure and manage multiple inspections efficiently.Good communication skills and ability to document findings clearly.Basic computer skills for reporting and record keeping.AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma and 1 year of relevant work experience. 3 years of experience to substitute formal qualification.Certification in horticulture or quality control is a plusIf you are interested in this position, please forward your resume.
