Your new role
Develop benchtop prototypes and conduct product assessments with an understanding of processing methods, consultation with engineers, flavour experts, packaging and marketing specialists, to deliver production / market meal solutions and products
Manage allocated New Product Development projects from concept through to first production runs
Identify and develop new and improved methods and systems for food processing, production, packaging and distribution
Supervise and document trial production runs and first production runs.
Coordinate with the Sales, Supply Chain Manufacturing to optimise new product introduction onto sites
Recommend and support the existing product improvement process to ensure best practice as well as lean manufacturing process.
Maintain up to date knowledge of food requirements in terms of specification, declaration, NIPs, ingredients panel for both domestic and international markets
Mentor, manage and provide training to direct reports.
What you'll need to succeed
With your experience within the food industry, you will have proven experience in food product development and delivery, processing, packaging and ingredient functionality. You will also :
Hold a Tertiary qualification in Food Science or similar
5 to 7 years' experience in leading a Research and Development team
Previous work experience in chilled or frozen food manufacturing (desired)
Have a proven track record of strategies that lead to systems and products improvement
Have proven knowledge of the Australian and International Food Regulatory System, with specific experience with retail products
Have previous experience of supporting product recall in retail
Have the ability to demonstrate a high level of effective team management
Proven ability to use interpersonal skills in everyday workplace situations
