With a keen eye on safety, quality and compliance, 1KOMMA5 are striving to set the standard for operational excellence in the industy.Key Responsibilities : Health & Safety Leadership & Strategy : Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of OH&S policies, systems, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
Provide strategic direction to ensure compliance with Australian workplace safety regulations and industry best practices, particularly within the renewable energy and construction sectors.
Monitor OH&S performance and report on key metrics, including injury rates, safety audits, and incident investigations.
Compliance & Government Relations : Ensure compliance with national and state OH&S legislation, and standards, including those specific to the renewable energy and construction sectors.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant government bodies such as the Clean Energy Council (CEC), ensuring ongoing certification and regulatory compliance.
Stay up to date with changes in laws, regulations, and safety standards, and ensure these are communicated and integrated into the company's safety practices.
Risk Management & Safety Culture : Lead risk assessments and identify potential hazards associated with both residential and commercial installations.
Implement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring risks are effectively managed and reduced.
Foster a safety-first culture across the organization by promoting safety awareness and engaging employees at all levels in proactive safety practices.
Safety Training & Development : Develop and implement training programs for all staff, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure they are fully equipped to meet safety requirements and standards.
Ensure that all new and existing staff receive ongoing safety training, including emergency response procedures, equipment handling, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
Ensure that supervisors and managers are equipped to monitor safety practices on-site and mentor staff in safe working methods.
Incident Management & Reporting : Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.
Ensure all incidents, near misses, and accidents are properly documented and reported in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Provide regular reports to senior management on safety performance and recommend actions for continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Engagement : Work closely with the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) team to ensure that safety is embedded within project delivery processes and site operations.
Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate safety considerations into business strategies and commercial objectives.
Act as the key safety officer during the delivery of commercial and industrial projects, ensuring safety is prioritized across all stages of the project lifecycle.
Skills & Qualifications : Experience : A minimum of 6 years experience in OH&S management, with a strong background in the renewable energy or construction sectors.
Proven track record of managing safety for large-scale projects and ensuring safety compliance across multiple sites nationwide.
Previous experience working with government bodies such as the Clean Energy Council (CEC) or other industry regulatory authorities is highly desirable.
Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs to diverse teams.
Skills : Strong understanding of OH&S legislation, industry standards, and best practices, particularly within renewable energy and construction.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organization.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement effective control measures.
Ability to develop safety-related reports, conduct audits, and provide actionable recommendations to improve safety performance.
Advanced knowledge of risk assessment and management processes.
Industry Knowledge : In-depth understanding of the renewable energy industry, including safety considerations and regulatory requirements.
Familiarity with the unique challenges and safety needs of the construction sector, particularly in large-scale projects.
Education : Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (essential).
Additional certifications in safety management, risk assessment, or other relevant areas are a plus.
