About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate HR Business Partner to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for leading the effective implementation of V&W’s overarching HR strategies, policies, processes, and practices within the Retail business.
We are a small and agile HR team providing generalist HR support to a workforce of approx. 200+ employees. This hands on role will be the key HR contact for our Retail workforce.
This is a full-time role, however we may consider a part-time 4 day work week.
Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, you will –
- Lead the cascading of V&W’s broader HR strategies to the national retail field team.
- Provide advice, coaching, feedback and support to Retail Leaders and Managers on a range of areas, including performance review and management; recruitment, induction and onboarding; training and development; remuneration, benefits, safety and wellbeing.
- Be the central point of contact for all Retail staff nationally, addressing enquiries such as HR policy and procedure in a timely, fair, and accurate manner.
- Support Retail Leadership and Managers on staff recruitment, selection, and successful onboarding techniques.
- Review and approve retail team contracts and changes, ensuring compliance with industry awards and legislation.
- Manage the resolution of retail staff employee relations issues, including performance improvement, grievances, and necessary investigations.
- Support the performance and development process by assisting Managers and staff with effective goal setting, evaluations, and feedback.
- Identify training needs and develop in-house initiatives to enhance staff capabilities and growth within the Retail team.
- Track and analyse HR metrics (e.g., recruitment and engagement data) to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Drive and contribute to HR projects.
- HR administration (including issuing contracts and letters via ELMO HR system), record keeping and reporting as required.

You will bring
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a relevant field3+ years’ minimum experience in HR Business Partner / Generalist rolePrevious experience in a similar role within a fast-paced environmentExperience with Retail Award (or similar) interpretation and application is requiredExperience with ELMO HR & Payroll system is highly regardedStrong knowledge of HR best practices, Australian employment law, and industrial relationsExperience in complaint and complex case managementA strategic and operational mindset with the ability to work both collaboratively in a cross-functional team and independentlyDemonstrated analytical and problem-solving skillsProven ability to build and maintain strong relationships and communicate with all levels of stakeholdersImpeccable written and verbal communicationExcellent Microsoft Office and Google Suite skillsUnderstanding of the fashion / retail industry would be advantageousHR experience in Manufacturing, Warehousing and Logistics environments would be highly regardedWe will offer you
