Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Immunology and Immunopathology. The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Clinical Immunology and Allergy and Immunopathology, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergy, the Central Sydney Immunology Laboratory and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital as required.
The Staff Specialist in Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology will provide clinical services in Immunology and Allergy and will work collaboratively to expand the diagnostic Immunopathology service at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. The Staff Specialist will also take a leading role in development of the academic agenda of Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology and provide supervision of higher degree by research students and engagement with the RPA Institute for Academic Medicine (IAM).
The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development. They must operate within the NSW Health Pathology laboratory services in accordance with their Scope of Clinical Practice, as specified by the Director of Immunopathology and through the NSW Health Pathology’s Director of Clinical Operations, Local Pathology Director and NSW Health Pathology’s Operations Director – East.
Medical practitioner, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), with recognised specialist qualifications in Immunology and Allergy and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA), with recognised specialist qualifications in Immunopathology, and / or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award. Position is currently available. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from the beginning of the 2026 Clinical Year on 2 February 2026, may be considered. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
