Join our agile team as an Operational Risk Manager, where you’ll play a critical role in embedding and maintaining operational risk practices across the COO division. You’ll support the implementation and enhancement of HCF’s Enterprise and Operational Risk Management Frameworks, working closely with divisional leaders to promote a strong risk culture and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Line 1 controls assurance activities, including documentation review and escalation of control failures.
- Lead operational risk training and awareness campaigns across the COO Group.
- Maintain and update Critical Process Risk Registers (CPRRs).
- Oversee incident management processes, ensuring accurate recording and root cause analysis.
- Support risk assessments for onboarding and management of Material Service Providers (MSPs).
- Review and update critical process models and resource maps.
- Design and operationalise the Operational Risk in Change Standard.
- Prepare and deliver operational risk reporting for EARCC and Board.
Essential Skills & Experience
7+ years’ experience in operational risk management, enterprise risk, or audit within Australia’s financial services or APRA‑regulated entities.Strong experience implementing operational risk management frameworks and tools.Deep knowledge of internal controls governance across all 3 lines of defence.Familiarity with CPS 220 / 230 core concepts.Excellent report writing, presentation, and analytical skills.Ability to work autonomously and handle confidential matters professionally.Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.Desirable
Experience in Private Health Insurance or mutual / not-for-profit organisations.Prior involvement in regulatory change projects with a CPS 220‑230 focus.Qualifications in risk, audit, business continuity, or resilience.Data analytics skills.About HCF
