Centacare Family and Relationship Services is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Domestic and Family Violence Practitioner to join our team in Maryborough on a permanent full-time basis. Working across the Fraser Coast, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and children affected by domestic and family violence (DFV).
We are seeking someone with strong experience working with children impacted by trauma, alongside the skills to support women through complex and sensitive journeys.
About the Role
This diverse position supports clients through :
Children's counselling using trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate approaches.Intake, risk assessment and safety planning for women and children.Individual counselling and psychoeducation for women.Court support for clients navigating DFV-related legal systems.Women's advocacy, including referral pathways, safety upgrades, and practical supports.Group work delivery to support healing and education.Liaison with key stakeholders including Child Safety, Police, Corrections and Housing.Potential rotation in local police stations to strengthen community response.What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will bring :
Minimum two years' experience in DFV counselling, risk assessment, court support, and group work.Demonstrated understanding of gendered violence, the DFV Act, Child Protection Act and Family Law Act.A well-developed practice framework that aligns with trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.Experience supporting diverse families with complex needs.Strong skills in report writing, case notes, data entry and professional communicationA calm, resilient presence in high-pressure and confronting situations.The ability to work collaboratively within a professional team and engage sensitively with clients and stakeholders.
