- About the role
Safety as a culture' is the forefront of everything we do at Nationwide. As our National HSE Manager, you will develop and execute HSE strategies that will mitigate risks and ensure the safety of our employees and customers.
An experience practitioner and people leader, you thrive on continuously improving HSE practices. Your naturally inquisitive nature allows you to identify and mitigate risks and recommend corrective actions to the executive leadership team.
Additionally, the role involves :
- Owning and leading the Safety Working Group including incident investigation process (ICAM)
- Developing and executing strategies and business plans for HSE across NWG to ensure a strong safety and continuous improvement culture;
- Planning, conducting, recording and evaluating internal and external audits;
- Providing professional advice to Managers on the effective management of Workplace Health and Safety (including WorkCover & Rehabilitation for all NWG sites and functions) and Environmental matters across all NWG sites;
- Managing and maintaining the NWG HSE Management System (DoneSafe), compliance obligations, legislative requirements, standards and customer safety requirements across NWG; and
- Effectively and actively engaging with all internal and external customers and contractors to ensure compliance with NWG and customer HSE management system.
- Skills & experience
To be successful in this role, you will have :
- Appropriate degree qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety and Management Systems;
- A minimum 5 years' proven experience in a similar role, hands-on and at management level;
- Experience influencing a team of HSE professionals dispersed across multiply sites;
- Lead Auditor experience (ISO), results orientated and practical experience managing incident response processes;
- Significant experience in the development and management of safety systems and the coordination of safety programs;
- Strong written & verbal communication, including the ability to report and present at Executive level;
- Proficiency in the use of various computer software, including Ms Office.
